Tom Caven, MD

Over 40 years of experience in Academic, Clinical, and Healthcare Administration Leadership.
Dr Caven graduated summa cum laude from University of Texas at Austin, B.A. Plan II Honors Program. He completed his Medical Education at U.T. Medical School at San Antonio, where he was an A.O.A. graduate. Postgraduate training followed at John Peter Smith Hospital in Ft.Worth, Texas (affiliated with UT Southwestern), and he also served as the Chief Resident. In 1983 he began a private practice in Family Medicine in Austin, and in 1989 he joined Austin Diagnostic Clinic where he served on the Board of Directors. Dr Caven was a founding member of Travis Physician Associates in 1994, helping develop it into a large primary care group which merged with a Seton based primary care group to form Seton Health Partners in 1998.
Since 2001 Dr. Caven has been VP Medical Affairs and Medical Director at Brackenridge Hospital, a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals. He also serves as the chairman of the Seton Clinical Research Steering Committee, and in this capacity supports clinical research activities throughout the Seton Network. Additionally he chairs the board of the Seton Medical Group, a 501a corporation, and is the physician member of the Seton Network Risk Assessment Committee, performing risk assessment and medicolegal analysis.
In 2013 he became a Co-Founderand President of Advanced Lifecycle Management, a consulting organization providing chief medical officer contract services to biomedical, pharmaceutical, and healthcare companies.
Outside activities include the External Advisory Committee of the University of Texas School of Biomedical Engineering, Advisory Committee of UT Pharmacy School, and a member of the scientific advisory committee of Alafair Biosciences.

Robert Cortes Jr MD
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Over 40 years of experience in Academic, Clinical, and Pharmaceutical Industry Leadership.
Dr. Cortes graduated from Baylor University with a BS in Biology. He completed his Medical Education at Baylor College of Medicine at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. Post-Graduate Training was at John Peter Smith Hospital (a UT Southwestern HSC Affiliate) in Fort Worth, Texas.
In 1982, he began a Family Medicine Practice in Rio Grande City, Texas, where he co-founded the Family Health Center, PA of Rio Grande City and Rio Medical Associates. (a specialty group).
In 1986, Dr. Cortes moved his practice to Baylor Scott and White Clinic in Hewitt and Temple, Texas. After additional Surgical Training at Scott and White, he taught at the Family Medicine Residency until 2003 and served on multiple Health Plan Committees.
He served as an Assistant Professor of Family and Community Medicine and was the co-founder of the Primary Care Partnership at Texas A&M HSC College of Medicine.
Over the next 16 years, he has worked various leadership capacities in Medical Affairs at several companies to include Schering-Plough (Sr MSL), Sanofi (Area CMO), Alcon/Novartis (Sr. Medical Director and Global Franchise Head), Merck (Medical Affairs Director and Team Lead) and Mallinckrodt (VP Global Field Medical Affairs). While covering multiple therapeutic areas, he has led the launch and post-marketing of several drugs and devices.
In 2013, Dr. Caven and he founded Advanced Life Cycle Management to meet the CMO and other leadership needs of Biomedical, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, and Device companies.
Outside activities include a Chairman of the Board of a Non-Profit organization, Board of Directors at Temple Health and Bioscience District, President of a Real Estate Investment company and Assistant Professor at TAMU HSC College of Medicine.
